Its time to get ready for recruitment seasonWhat is recruitment season?Many organizations in all industries have embraced mass recruiting as a way to hire new employees. Employers target soon-to-be college graduates with recruitment efforts for a few reasonsThey can meet many candidates at the same time.Many are familiar with CU Boulder and know what to expect with our graduates.They can identify candidates early in their careers and bring them in at the ground level.Recruitment season, even for internships and jobs starting next summer, starts early generally during the first week in October. At CU Boulder, hundreds of empl oyers will visit campus for the STEM Industry Career Internship Fair (Oct. 1 - 2) and All Industries Career Internship Fair (Oct. 3). These events kick off recruitment season, and many organizations start interviewing people the day after they occur.Here are three steps to help you prepare set up your Handshake profile, finish your resume and begin researching opportunities.1. Set up your Handshake profileHandshake is the online recruiting tool used by hundreds of employers looking to hire CU students. Through Handshake, you canFind job and internship postings by employers from Colorado, the U.S. and countries around the world.Upload details from your resume for recruiters to find you.Set up on-campus interviews with employers.Schedule appointments with career development advisors.Employers manage their interviewing schedules with CU Boulder students through Handshake, so youll want to make sure your profile is ready. To get started, go over these five tips for setting up your Han dshake profile.2.Build your resumeYou should have a good start on a resume once youve set up your Handshake profile. However, youll want something that will give a great first impression to recruiters. Review these templates and tips for building a resume. Then, visit Career Services during drop-in hours or make an appointment with a career development advisor to have your resume reviewed.3. Begin researching opportunitiesThis is the fun part about preparing for recruitment season Before recruitment season begins, explore what opportunities are out there. Start by looking at different postings on Handshake, or do some research on the companies that will be at the career fairs. This can help you see what employers are looking for, and help you decide what path you want to take.
